Current Location: Homer Smith's Marina (Beaufort NC)
Miles Traveled: 80 Weather: Sunny, hot, 15-20 knot winds, low-90s Highlights: Lots of mileage planned for today (approx 80), so raised anchor just past 6AM, and motored out the Masonboro Inlet, and set off for Beaufort NC. Motor-sailed in light winds for first 2 hours, averaging about 6 knots, then the winds picked up, and we had a nice sail with following winds and waves for the rest of the day. Went wing-and-wing for some of the afternoon, which is always tricky, and the waves were building to 5-6 feet late, but we made the channel around 5PM, and arrived at Homer's Marina around 5:30. Slip was tight (only 23 feet), and wind was blowing pretty good, so took a bit of jockeying to ease into the slip, but worked out well, and we had the boat secured by 6PM. Walked into town and grabbed dinner at Finz (ok food, terrible service, wouldn't recommend), then ice cream to snack on while we walked back to the boat. Buttoned everything up, turned on the A/C, went to bed at 9:00 and were asleep by 9:01.
